Appleton Hall was built in 1820 for Thomas Lyon on land that once belonged to the Warburton family of Arley. The Lyon family left in 1931 and by 1932 the building was a Domestic Training Centre for sixty girls. It was later used as a Home Office Approved School. It was demolished in the mid-1960s. Photographic prints of this picture are not available.
